Book Review: Project Inspired by Nicole Weider

Project Inspired is written by Nicole Weider and is published by Zondervan.

I got this book for my daughter, who is a teenager and is enthralled by all things fashion and beauty these days. She has been devouring it from cover to cover. It has ideas on how a Christian girl should dress, use makeup effectively, and other ideas that interest young girls who are living for the Lord but still want to be attractive to others.

The trick is helping these girls learn these skills without becoming overly focused on the temporal or become materialistic. I think that Weider does a decent job at doing that. The "tips and tricks" that she passes along are useful. However, I think that she maybe goes a little overboard in the area of makeup - perhaps that's because I struggle with girls using so much of the stuff these days and hide their true beauty behind a "mask".

I think that Weider has a great "voice" to which young girls can relate. My daughter previously hated jean jackets. Suddenly, after reading that Nicole Weider loves them, my daughter has a love for jean jackets. Go figure.

I like the way Weider ties in the Bible and its teachings with living a life filled with an inner beauty that overflows to the outside. She is believable and likable. I think her book fills a void in a market saturated with petty materialism.

*I received this book in exchange for my honest opinion.*
