Then Sings My Soul - Starry Night

Our family loves astronomy. We have a telescope that we get out on clear nights. We wouldn't have to do this, however, because the internet provides opportunity to look through the Hubble. Go here and click on the first picture to enlarge. If you can't say that God is great and mighty to be praised after seeing that, you aren't alive. The Bible says that He knows every single one of the stars, in every single galaxy, by name. We don't even know how many stars there really are.

I love this song by Chris August. This is his acoustic version of his song, Starry Night.

Saturday Scripture Speaks - God is God

Psalm 50:19-23 (NKJV) says,

"You give your mouth to evil,
         And your tongue frames deceit.
 You sit and speak against your brother;
         You slander your own mother’s son.
  These things you have done, and I kept silent;
         You thought that I was altogether like you;
         But I will rebuke you,
         And set them in order before your eyes.

  “Now consider this, you who forget God,
         Lest I tear you in pieces,
         And there be none to deliver:
  Whoever offers praise glorifies Me;
         And to him who orders his conduct aright
         I will show the salvation of God.”

We make the mistake, all too often, in believing that God is like us. He is not. Man (and woman) is made in the image of God, rather than God made in the image of man. God is sovereign and is above all else. "Now I know that the LORD is greater than all the gods; for in the very thing in which they behaved proudly, He was above them.” Exodus 18:11 (NKJV)

Steven Curtis Chapman's song, God is God, speaks volumes on this subject. If you have troubles in this world, take comfort. God is God and we are not. He is sovereign and is in total control - read the Book of Revelation and read it with hope and promise rather than with fear and trembling. Christians have no need to fear future events. GOD IS GOD!

Then Sings My Soul Saturday - Everlasting

I've heard a lot of this song lately. Not only do we frequently sing it in church services, but my son, Jonathon, plays and sings it often. He's practicing singing while playing guitar at the same time. It warms a mother's heart to hear her 19 year old son singing and playing music for the Lord. I hope you enjoy this song by Hillsong.

Then Sings My Soul Saturday

I love this song by FFH. I find that as time moves along and as I watch the events unfold in our country and the world, "I'm ready to fly!" How about you?

Then Sings My Soul Saturday

I've been thinking about this song lately. I LOVE it and nobody sings it better than the late Keith Green. When I was 18, I fell in love with Keith's music. He was one of those rare performers who truly LIVED the faith. His death was such a loss to those of us left behind but, wow. What a gain for Jesus!

I hope you enjoy this as much as I do.

Then Sings My Soul Saturday - O Holy Night

Did you know that "O Holy Night" was originally written in French? This rendition by Andrea Bocelli is heart stopping - so beautiful.

The Angels Cried

I was listening to this song about an hour ago and realized that it is a great song to share. I hope everyone stops and takes a LONG moment this Christmas season to ponder the fact that Jesus didn't come here as a baby to give everyone a warm fuzzy feeling. He came to pay a price - death on a cross and the burden of sin. What a huge price to pay for our salvation. Surely that was on God's mind that first Christmas.

Then Sings My Soul Saturday - At the Foot of the Cross

Since I talked about Tammy Trent in a previous post, I thought I'd post a video of her singing a favorite song, At the Foot of the Cross. It's a beautiful song that puts the day to day struggles into perspective.

When you're down, lay it all at the foot of the Cross.

King of the World

Every time I hear this song, I cry. I have never had this type of relationship with my earthly father but, as every daughter does, I've desperately wanted to be my daddy's "princess." I was never quite "good enough." I think that's why I was so drawn to my heavenly Father 28 years ago - in His eyes, I am a princess. He is the "King of the world." I hope you enjoy this song, by Point of Grace, as much as I do.

Then Sings My Soul Saturday

All week I've had the secular song, Mad World, - sung by American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert - stuck in my head. It's a haunting type of song and Mr. Lambert sings it beautifully.

Why is this place such a "mad world," and what can we do to make it better?

This song, by Brandon Heath, sticks in my mind just as much. It also offers a solution to the madness.

Then Sings My Soul Saturday

Here is Kris Allen, the new American Idol, singing God of This City. Did you know that he is a worship leader? For those of you who think America made a mistake in choosing him, maybe so, but God doesn't make mistakes. I think we should pray for Kris Allen, that he will continue to sing to God's glory and will be a greater witness and testimony to the Lord's faithfulness.

I hope this song blesses your soul - it did mine.

Then Sings my Soul Saturday - Find Your Wings

All of us Christian parents can relate to this song, I think. My second child, Jonathon, is graduating from high school this year and I guess I'm sentimental. It was only yesterday that he was a cute little baby!

My prayer for my children is that they all come to know the Lord, serve Him wholeheartedly, and that faith gives them "the courage to dare to do great things."

I hope you enjoy this song by Mark Harris. It blesses my heart each time I hear it.

Then Sings My Soul Saturdays #1

A song that speaks to my soul each Christmas season is O Holy Night. This song speaks of Christ's great power and glory. It speaks of the hope that He gives to all who will but believe. "Christ is the Lord! Fall on your knees."

This You Tube video is of Celtic Woman singing a beautiful rendition of O Holy Night. I hope you're as blessed by it as I am.
