Mesothelioma and Asbestos

Have you seen any of those commercials on TV about mesothelioma and wondered what it is? I did some reading this morning and found out that mesothelioma is a form of lung cancer caused by asbestos exposure. There are different types of this cancer, but they are all very serious.

From what I understand, asbestos is a fibrous material that was used in building houses and ships, some automobile products like brakes, and cements and joint compounds. The scary thing is that tons of products were made and used in the United States until the 1970's using asbestos related materials.
