Go Big or Go Home is written by Scotty McCreery with Travis Thrasher. It is published by Zondervan.
Who doesn't love Scotty McCreery? He came to our town last month for Big Ticket Country Night. He sang to a packed out audience outside at the annual music festival. Many will give him acclaim for his charm as well as his honest love of music. More than that, they will give him acclaim for his honest love of God.
This book starts out with some background information about Scotty's first experiences with music - that of Elvis Presley. It goes on to spend a great deal of time chronicling Scotty's experience with the American Idol competition. The last part of the book tells about what has happened in his career and life since winning American Idol. Some pictures are included in the middle of the book.
I enjoyed reading this story because Scotty McCreery is one of the rare secular performers who has a strong Biblical faith. He seems very sincere and has certainly been blessed.
The book is interesting but is written in a funny form. The grammar goes from being in the present to the past at odd times. I think that this is on purpose for whatever reason, but I tend to find it a little distracting. All in all, though, the book is well written and informative. Scotty McCreery fans will love the insight into his life.
*I received a copy of Go Big or Go Home in exchange for my honest opinion. My thoughts are my own.*
