I trust you've all had a good week; most people had an extra day off work due to Labor Day here in the States. My husband had to work (one of his busiest days of the year) so we began our homeschool Monday. Ugh. It was like pulling teeth just to get those kids to do their lessons. They had spent the majority of the summer playing around and just did not care to study whatsoever.
Work is not fun most of the time, but it is a necessary part of our lives. People were created to work. Even Adam worked - he tended the Garden of Eden and named the animals and creatures. At that time (before sin entered the world), work was fun and easy. After he ate of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, a sin because God had specifically stated not to, (Genesis 3), Adam no longer found work to be a joy. The ground produced thorns and thistles and the animals were no longer his friends.
This whole thing about work is such an eye-opener for me. When I get tangled up in sin, no matter the size or severity of the sin (for sin is sin), every day activities and "work" become difficult and tedious. I find no joy in them.
This week I'm thankful for work. I praise the Lord that I am able to work - to cook, clean house, wash laundry, garden and put up produce for the winter, and teach my children the three R's (and more). I thank Him that I can still type and think up stories and I thank Him that people actually want to read that which I write.
God is good. For what have you thanked Him for this week?

I am so thankful for work as well...first of all that my husband and I have jobs since so many are without them these days and also that we have the health and the ability to labor around the house and our community. Gods blessings are all around us! - Happy TT!
i thank God for your strength too to do all those work you mentioned. God bless you! =D
This is a wonderful post! And a good reminder of the things we take for granted for. God bless you!

Thank God for enabling you to serve Him in many ways at home through all the works you are doing daily. May He continue to give you much grace and strength as you labour on for Him at home! Thanks for sharing your thankful heart with us. Take care and have a blessed day.
Blessings,
Nancie
I so agree -"work is not fun most of the time"
but yes, we need to work.
I actually realized that there are lots of people looking for work/job right now and I am thankful I have at least a decent and nice job.
God bless you!!
Wonderful thankful post.
I'm thankful for work, too. If I were to come into a large amount of money, I would still want to do some type of work because it gives meaning to my life. I feel the Lord is never approving of laziness. We're put here to accomplish something!
I do realize that some are disabled, yet I still believe there is something they can do ... perhaps being a prayer warrior. The world definitely needs those!
Yes, we weren't created to sit around and relax! Work is actually good for us. But there is work that the Lord has for each one of us and I've found that it changes in different seasons of my life. I worked as a nurse for 25 years but now I'm working to help my husband in his company (along with the house, etc). But attitude about the work makes all the difference.
I've been trying to convince my children this! It's hard, I'm sure, because my attitude isn't so pleasant about work. (Especially all the cleaning up after them, and cleaning up things I've already cleaned up! It's a job that never seems to end with small ones.)
