I don't think I'm the only one who experiences this. I know that there have been times when I visited other blogs and read things that have cut me to the heart and I had to wonder, "Did they write that about me?" Then I come back to reality and realize that no, they probably did not. It's just that what they wrote about hit me hard because of something I was struggling with, unbeknown to the bloggers.
I do not write to any specific person. I write as the Holy Spirit leads me, usually about something I've read in my devotional time that week. I don't write to or about anyone specifically.
There are a few things that drive me when it comes to blog topics and how I approach them.
- This is a Christian blog aimed toward all things pertaining to homemaking with a Biblical worldview - especially that of the Proverbs 31 Woman.
- I want to be like Jesus when I grow up. He did not sugar coat the truth so as not to offend anyone. He offended the Pharisees to the point that they nailed Him to a cross. He said that His Word is "sharper than a double edged sword" and that it cuts to the marrow. ( Hebrews 4:12) He loved people enough to tell them the truth even if it hurt, because the hurt of an eternal hell is worse than a temporary hurt of "offended feelings."
- The Bible is an offensive Book to those who do not believe. It is "foolishness to those who are perishing." (1 Corinthians 1:18) When you quote Scripture, someone somewhere will be offended.

Anytime you write about religion or politics...people are going to get offended. The thing is that we don't all have to agree 100% about everything (although there are definitely spiritual truths that can not be compromised). We just need to agree to disagree and go about our lives.
I have plenty of friends that are not believers (yet), so we just don't get into lengthy heated discussions about Christianity. Same thing with politics, I just ignore political talking anymore...and for me that has been difficult as you know.
Bottom line is that unless someone is specifically calling me out in a post, conversation or something...I just let it roll off of my back. Life is too short to sweat the small stuff.
My girlfriend and I were just talking about this last night on her porch. She was having a 'problem' with someone, thinking the woman didn't like her, didn't like what my girlfriend was sharing', etc. She prayed to God and felt Him saying to her spirit. 'it has nothing to do with you'.
I've learned, you take an offense, you miss the blessing that God wanted you to receive. An offense gets your eyes off of Jesus and unto yourself. I've also learned it's not about ME...(GO FIGURE,,LOL).
Everything you have written here is right on....awesome post...
Keep on "Speaking the truth in love." Your friends support you.
