Thankful Thursday - May 14

The mouth of the [uncompromisingly] righteous utters wisdom, and his tongue speaks with justice. Psalm 37:30 (Amplified Bible)

Lynn is hosting Thankful Thursday this week and she asks how wisdom changed your life.

I don't know if I've always spoken with wisdom, but I do know that I've sometimes blurted out things that I shouldn't have because I completely lacked wisdom.

Wise words will lift up others. Unwise words will tear them down. The times that I've spoken wrongly have been some of the worst times of my life because those words have hurt others, have hurt me, and have ultimately hurt the God I serve. So, I think it's a good thing to be reminded of the necessity of wishing for wisdom, especially with the words we use from day to day.

This week I'm thankful for:

  • The rain that is blessing our forests and gardens. We so depend on water for our very lives.
  • My brother and his family as they are here visiting us for a few days. It's so good to be with family.
  • Grocery money this week. Sounds so simple doesn't it?
  • Relationships that I'm building with my children. Soon they'll all be grown and out of the house, but I desire to always have a place in their hearts.
  • Safety on the roads this week. It is something we don't always think to thank the Lord for, but He's there protecting us each day. Who knows what disasters that could have overtaken us but we never knew about them?
I hope you have a great Thankful Thursday as you recount your blessings and the wisdom that God gives to those who ask of Him.

Hi, Rita. We're kind of thinking along the same lines tonight on wisdom... looking at things we've done that had absolutely nothing to do with wisdom, but how we've learned thru them.

I'm thankful for the simple things in life, too!

Happy Thankful Thursday!

Oh yes, I have more un-wise words than wise ones, I'm afraid! And grocery money (and great coupons coming out this week) are great things to be thankful for!

So true. My church offers a class on using our words in ways that glorify God. Words are indeed powerful, and it's been humbling to recall the times I've used words in ways that didn't please God at all.

Great post! We do need to be reminded to ask for wisdom before speaking. It's a hard lesson to learn ...

what a wonderful thankful list- some seem so simple and we do often forget to say thank you. You touched my spirit with these-thanks.
I agree with your thoughts on wisdom I just read about Hannan and Penninah and Penninah spoke with little wisdom but Hannah was able to reach the place because she knew God where she was able to speak with wisdom to the Lord. Blessings

I like the proverb that says, "the wise woman builds her house, but the foolish one, with her own hands, tears hers down." I know a lot of building or tearing depends on my words and attitude. . . gotta keep them both in check!

I love the 'wisdom' of appreciating. I don't always 'see' it, but when I stop and look, it rocks my soul. :)
