The theme this week for Thankful Thursday is courage. It's so funny that I just took that personality test because I scored the very lowest in the lion category. I rarely feel courageous. I am the type of person who would like other people to do things for me so that I don't have to deal with PEOPLE!
There you have it. I don't like to deal with people and the hurtful things they can do or say to each other. As a Christian, I can't live my life in a vacuum, though. I have to be in the world and around others daily. When they scare me and make me feel inferior, it's okay because, "Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world." 1 John 4:4 (KJV)
Today I'm thankful that I can go to God in prayer anytime, anywhere. I often wondered what I would do if I lived in a country that persecutes Christians. The answer is that I would still pray and praise Him. Nobody can hear my thoughts and my prayers when they are in my heart - but God can. Nobody can stop me from praying. Nobody can stop me from believing.
I'm thankful for food. Sometimes I stress out while I'm making out the grocery list, trying to decide how to buy what we need but keep the cost as low as possible. It's difficult these days! But God is faithful and He always provides.
I'm thankful that the garden will soon be planted. The little herb plants are sprouting and growing. I have a passion fruit plant in my living room that is growing by leaps and bounds. The flowers are beautiful, at least I think they are judging by the pictures in the catalog! Anyway, a flower is about to bloom on my plant and I can't wait. Did you know that a "cross" appears in the center of the passion flower? It's such a great reminder of what Christ accomplished on His cross. Here's a picture to show you what I mean (this is from Wikipedia and is in the public domain):
What in your life tonight draws your thoughts to Christ? Give Him thanks today.

((hugs))
Life would be really sweet if we didn't have to deal with people! HA! But I have found that in dealing with people, God burns off the ugly stuff in my own life. Amazing how that works! Blessings on your day. Mary
Precious blessings and what a great post! Happy Thankful Thursday!
Hi Rita, You are an amazing person and should never feel inferior. I have learned that only my opinion of my self counts. I am no better or worse than any one. I have learned mean people are mean as they them self have a problem they are compensating for. So they lash out at others. I have been hurt by words from others too in the past. But today I look for the kind and good in all. A smile and a loving heart is what I now am blessed with. It is awesome to be free of judgment. But it was a choice I made. to let go and love.
It would be nice to live in a vacuum sometimes (ha). I can relate.
I am thankful for our Lord too. He is good!
Happy TT!
Beth
I hope your garden does well this year! Happy Friday to you.
