Do you like to make your own tomato sauce but hate to wait for it to boil down all day long? I used to add tomato paste to my sauce to thicken it, but that was costing more money...especially since tomato products have considerably risen in price at local stores. The tiny cans are now nearly a dollar apiece here. I found that I could boil the sauce down in the microwave easily and quickly.
To thicken tomato sauce in the microwave, place juice in a microwave safe bowl and cook on high for about 20 minutes, more or less, to desired consistency. I boil it to almost my favored thickness and then add spices, etc. Then I simmer on the stove for 10-20 minutes to distribute flavors.
