Have you given much thought to your pet's food? I really didn't until recently. I noticed that the price of dog and cat food has jumped considerably in the past few months and this adds greater burden on our budget.
Last night I decided to do some searches for dog and cat food and I learned some interesting things. For one, the Ol Roy dog food has come up against a lot of opposition from consumers. One girl said that she bought a bag of it and when she got it home and opened it, she found a dead mouse with bones protruding from it right on top of the dog food. Yuck. Ol Roy promised to send her a full refund and they apologized, which is the proper thing to do.
Other people have complained about the "cheaper" brands of dog and cat food, stating that their animals have either suffered considerably with hair/weight loss or poor appetite, and worse.
I feed Bobbi (Yorkie) Purina Little Bites, Indoor Formula. As for the outside dogs, they receive whatever's cheapest most of the time, but we supplement with lots of table scraps. In fact, a few weeks ago I cooked up some deer steaks we'd had in the freezer for some time. I fed all of it to the dogs and they loved it. I know that people say not to give your animals table scraps, but it has kept our dogs healthy, which I don't think would be the case if we gave them just cheap dry dog food. Of course, everyone has to decide what's best for their own pets.
As for the cats, they mostly get Friskie's dry cat food, sometimes something else depending on my budget at the time. They appear to be healthy.
I'd love to hear what other people think about pet foods and how they work it into the household budget in these expensive times.
If you'd like to get a sample of Greenies dog or cat treats, you can go here. If you give names of friends who might be interested, they'll also mail you $1 off coupons for each friend (limit 10) that you refer.

Our cats love those Greenies! I found them at Meijer in the checkout and decided to try them. They were a hit. They can be costly though.
We are still using some of the Purina from the coupons. I have a few more coupons for Friskies and such, but they are definitely necessary because of the price hikes!
