Walgreens has long been our preferred drug store. We have found that the service and prices they offer combine to give us the best prescription options for our family. Now they have something new - the Walgreens Prescription Savings Club. This seems to be a very good option for those who have no prescription drug insurance coverage or a low coverage plan. You can not take advantage of this, however, if you are on a publicly funded plan such as Medicaid.
Here's how the club works:
- Pay one low yearly fee of $20 and get considerable discounts on prescriptions. You also get decent savings on over 8000 brand name and generic prescription meds. Walgreens has over 400 generic drugs priced at $12 for a 90 day supply - for club members only.
- Combine that with discounts for flu shots, pet prescriptions, nebulizer, and diabetic supplies. You also get bonuses when you buy photo finishing services and Walgreens brand items.
- Get savings on weight loss, birth control, and quit smoking products.
Did I mention that your pets are included in that $20 family membership price? The medications must be human equivalent ones but this is one benefit you don't see that often.
