Saturday Scripture Speaks

Psalm 121 (NIV)

A song of ascents.
1 I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
2 My help comes from the LORD,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
3 He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;
4 indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The LORD watches over you—
the LORD is your shade at your right hand;
6 the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.
7 The LORD will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;
8 the LORD will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.

If this isn't a great promise from the LORD, I don't know what is. This Christmas season, if you're feeling the normal depression that plagues people this time of year, take heart. Life is hard - money is scarce - persecution of believers is becoming more commonplace.

Jesus brought hope to the world. He was there in the beginning, when the earth was brought into being. He was there when it was flooded and Noah, his family, and the many animals were saved. He was there when all seemed lost and He was hung on a cross. He was there - really there - when He resurrected from the dead. He was there when Hitler tried to kill all the Jews. He was there when countless martyrs gave their lives for Him. And He WILL be there when the book of Revelation is unfolded. He is also there, with you and with me, in our daily struggles.

Merry Christmas. May you feel His peace now and fovermore.
