Thankful Thursday is linking up at Spiritually Unequal Marriage this week. Lynn asks the question, "What victories has Christ given you?

That's pretty thought provoking for me. He's freed me from all that enslaves me - namely, SIN. My biggie has been worry. Worry doesn't come from God - it comes from the enemy who would seek to destroy us by causing us to doubt and to fear, to think that we cannot trust the Lord to take care of our needs.

Right now, my oldest son, Josh, is struggling to finish his final three weeks of police academy. This is something he has wanted pretty much all of his life. He's worked very hard to get to this point. He must pass a physical test of endurance and strength (consisting of sprinting, push-ups, sit-ups) this coming Monday. I am SO worried that he won't pass - he's really close, but we're not sure.

Is this worry for me or for Josh? Am I afraid I'll be embarrassed if he fails and has to retake the academy? I have searched my heart and I know that I simply want this for Josh - he's my son and I love him that much. The problem is, though, that I'm not putting my trust in Jesus enough to let Him take the burden. My job is to pray and to rest in His arms - and to encourage my son.

So, tonight, I'm letting the worry go. He's freed me from that and so much more.

Oh I agree with you...

You are his Momma and we want the best for our children!

I'm praying God grant him the strength and endurance to pass as well. We just have to rest that no matter what the outcome... It is for his good!

Hugs,

Holly

Rita, worrying runs in my family! I come from a long line of worriers ... but that doesn't mean I have to join in.

I'm so glad for you that you are trusting in Him. I have found so many scriptures lately challenging me to really really trust Him. If I believe that He loves me and has my best interest at heart and will work everything out for my good, what do I have to worry about?

I'm praying your son passes the test. God's got it all under control.

Worry and fear can paralize us. At my Bible study tonight we spoke of strongholds and how though Christ we have the power to demolish them in our lives. Fear has been a big one in mine, but by surrendering to God, I am able to overcome.

Praying for you and your son.

I agree worry is an attack of the enemy for us not to trust the Lord, may the Lord give your son enough strength and wisdom to pass, I'm sure he's under God's care, He knows josh's heart.

Blessings!

I was so touched not only by your sweet heart for your son and how you exposed your fear and worry but as i read those who responded and will be praying for Josh... wow. God's Kingdom is so glorious..! Father, with hopes and our rest coming from You, I add my heart with others and pray that Josh find all the strength and endurance needed to pass this test. I pray that as Josh leans to You for answers for such a difficult job, Your Wisdom falls strong on his life for Your Purposes to be done. In Jesus Sweet Name.
