Lynn this week. How has your week been going? Mine has been a little hectic. I finally had the UGI and ultrasound done - between having the stomach flu and then catching a nasty cold which resulted in a sinus infection. The tests were not fun. I hate having so many x-rays. I wonder if the tests do more harm than the diseases sometimes. The tests results show that I have some acid reflux but no damage as a result as of yet. The ultrasound came out normal. I am taking some acid reducing pills which do help with some of my symptoms, but some of my problems linger. If I knew years ago that eating gluten was making me ill and harming my gall bladder, I would be much better off today. Now I have to live with the consequences and deal with the problems that were caused. If you have a lot of intestinal problems, gall bladder disease, and other ailments of the gastro-intestinal system, you might want to research the symptoms of celiac disease and gluten intolerance. My daughter is having much of the same symptoms I had as a child and I have now put both of us on a gluten-free diet. We are both feeling quite a bit better for it.
Tomorrow morning, Amanda, Evan and I will be heading down to Indiana with my son, Josh. We are taking a much needed break from routine and visiting family for a few days. My husband has to work - and my son, Jonathon is taking a girl to the prom - so they'll stay here with Ryan. Speaking of the prom, Jonathon was homeschooled and has never attended one, much less learned to dance. This is also his first official "date." He is 19. I really do praise the Lord that he didn't get into the dating scene at a young age. I truly believe that courtship is the right path to take. The girl he's escorting to the prom goes to the public high school and she asked Jonathon to take her. She baked him a homemade cake (complete with homemade frosting) to try to butter him up before asking. Ah....young love.
This week I'm thankful for:
Health answers coming to light
Homeschooling and Christian education
My parents who are both still here and the ability to spend time with them
My husband who is willing to let me leave for 5 days in order to have a rest and see my family
My garden - I was able to plant the cooler weather crops this week. I'm really praying for a good growing season this year.
