Thankful Thursday - February 12

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”
~ 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (ESV ~)

I love this passage (chosen by Iris at Grace Alone) because it's something that we all need to be reminded of a lot. Jenn at Growth in God posted earlier today about love and she hit the nail on the head when she said that love is not a feeling but is an action. If we go through life based on what we feel, we're going to miss love.

This week is full of challenges but that doesn't mean that I can't be thankful. I'm reminded of Corrie Ten Boom and her sister, Betsie, as they sat in a nasty German prison. They praised God for fleas because they kept the German guards from checking in on them and they were able to hold to Bible study with a Dutch Bible they'd smuggled into prison with them. They were able to share the love of Jesus because of hardship.

This week I'm thankful for the difficulties I face because I know that when all's said and done, God alone will receive the glory for what will be accomplished. I am thankful for the chance to minister to my oldest son as he is ill. He's had to humble himself and allow me (and others) to help him when he's been too weak to do things on his own. I've been given time with a captive audience - what a chance to let my faith shine before men!

I'm thankful for the upcoming challenge of two surgeries, the bills they will incur, and the opportunity to tell others how God will provide. Our income will be reduced by 1/3 for a while and only God can keep us going. I'm excited as I wonder how He'll work it all out. It'll be nothing short of amazing.

Oh Girl,

Oh I can't wait to see how God will provide for you and your family.

Lord, You have a plan for this family and it may seem scary to them now as the future is uncertain. Lord, let your provision be so fantastic that they cannot help but to shout from their roof top that Jesus loves His children and cares about their lives. Provide You abundance according to your will. In Jesus name. Amen

I am praying for your surgeries. You are so right. God is so good. We are going through some of the financial things right now...the type that cause divorces....but God is in control and we know we , with Gods help can get through it.

He will provide.

God Bless your family,
Lynne

Praise God for your attitude of praise! I recently had to have surgery and since we have no insurance we had to prepay an incredible amount of money. I was going to be off work recovering with no pay. On paper it looked horrifying but in my heart God said "I'll take care of it". And as the weeks passed it was totally unbelievable how God moved. He provided in such a supernatural way. God is good and in control. Keep trusting Him. Happy TT!

Thank you for reminding me that good comes out of all difficulties, I forget that sometimes. I become so caught up in the worry and uncertainty that I become blind to all else. I've read about Corrie Ten Boom, she was an absolutely amazing woman.

Your post is so true today. I think in the world we are in between health, income/finances, kids and their trials it has brought a lot of us women together especially through blogging. It is great that we can be so honest and admit that we need our heavenly father to be right there in the middle and at times hold us up! I know I am ever so thankful for his constant love and devotion. I will continue to pray for you and your family. Keep faith and lean to his understanding.

I just wanted to come back and thank you for bringing up The story of Corrie Ten Boom and her sister, It was thought provoking. I spoke with my friend in St. Louis. And she reminded me it was a movie too. I them remembered I had watched it but did not remember the flees. She has the book an will lend it to me to read. But you put me on a path to a deeper understanding of why bad things are in reality a blessing. I knew since 1999. That good would come of bad you just had to find out what the good was.
but any way . Thanks again.
