Dreaming of My Cabin

You should see our house. All of our furniture is old and mismatched, but it does serve its purpose. I dream of a time when I can decorate my house to make it more attractive - to me. I am not one who puts on airs and wants to have fancy things because my neighbors have fancy things, but to one day have something pretty for me and my family to enjoy would be, well, luxurious and fun.

Since I've spent time dreaming and planning for the day when we can afford to totally remodel and refurnish (better yet, build a log cabin), I've come across a handful of unique shops online that allow me the opportunity to dream big.

Lombok is one of the better home furnishings company that I found, inspired by eastern styles and tastes appealing to people everywhere. There are stores in London and throughout the UK, but if you can't get to them, they come to you via the internet and the online store.

My home office is one of the most important rooms in my dream cabin and I think this desk would fit perfectly. What I like about it is it looks like something my dad used to have when I was little, nostalgic for me.

Next to that desk I need a really nice log basket because I'll have a fireplace in that cozy office. These baskets are nice not only because they're handwoven and sturdy, but because they're large and roomy too.

I want a pretty lamp on my desk but I'm not much of a fan of the usual desk lamp. A brass one would be perfect. I am still trying to decide which of the large assortment of lamp shades would be best - has to be elegant, not too large but not tacky either. Maybe this one?

So I have a great home office in my dream cabin, a place to write to my heart's content in an inspiring atmosphere. I'm playing a cd of instrumental music and completely going with my muse. The words are flying from my mind and my heart and I'm typing them out like crazy.

Then the real world comes crashing in with piles of laundry. I still enjoy hanging them out in the fresh summer breeze, even with this lovely cabin - it will be out in the open because I don't like the dark of a woods. With this thought in mind, I have to think laundry baskets! This basket in particular is beautiful. It's made from Vietnamese jungle string and is supposed to be really sturdy, but it also just looks like it would fit in a country cabin.

If you're a dreamer like me, head over to Lombok and browse around, whether you want to just dream or go shopping.
