A Devotional Thought

Suggested Bible reading: Luke 12:22-34

Thought for the day: God holds the road map to life.

Prayer focus: Life’s Daily Struggles

Proverbs 12:28 (NIV) “In the way of righteousness there is life; along that path is immortality.”

One day our family took a long autumn hike in the woods. The leaves were a brilliant blend of soft yellow, bright red and crunchy brown, giving our eyes a special treat. Our five children galloped way ahead and though the view was magnificent, I didn’t notice most of it. In fact, in my fear of losing the children or getting stranded myself, I tried to memorize each path that we’d taken. In so doing, I totally missed the beauty that was all around me. Frustrated, I finally gave up trying to keep it all straight and simply followed my husband’s lead. After taking various winding paths, some uphill and grueling, we reached a summit where we could see for miles around. As I gazed at the wonder of God’s creation, I forgot about my earlier anxiety of losing my way. Life’s that way. We struggle from this path to the next, trying so hard to do the right thing as we stumble along that we sometimes forget to ask Him to lead us along the path of righteousness, lest we get lost. If we humbly follow our Leader, He’ll bring us safely to the other side, the place of beauty and rest.

That is so true! Women were built for worrying, I am just positive about that. We had a picnic with another family after church today and took a little walk to the river. I found myself telling Aidan not to get too far ahead and worrying that one of them would fall in by getting too close. Of course, I wasn't exactly dressed for rescuing them if they had!
