Book Review - Once a Day Country Faith pubished by Zondervan

Once a Day Country Faith is compiled by Deborah Evans Price and is published by Zondervan. This is a devotional type book for those who love country music and her stars. The foreword is written by Josh Turner (of Long Black Train fame) and wow, is it a testimony to his faith. As for being a book that is for once a day, forget that. I read it in two days.

Some of my favorite singers are in this book: Darius Rucker, Guy Penrod, Carrie Underwood, and Josh Turner. It's certainly no surprise to read Carrie Underwood's favorite Bible verse and her response to it, but you might be surprised to read Miranda Lambert's testimony to her favorite verse, Proverbs 12:4 - hint: it is about the wife of noble character. Ms. Lambert says she's thought about getting a tattoo of it!

All in all, I enjoyed reading this book and I know a certain country music loving son of mine who might like this book as his "something to read" part of next year's Christmas.

A word of caution: As you read through some of these testimonies to favorite Bible verses, try very hard not to judge those who gave them or expect something deeper from every one of them. We are all at different points in our faith journey and some are more "mature" in their faith than others. Just read this book and enjoy it for what it is: a compilation of high profile, yet very human, people. And remember to pray for everyone who is featured in the book.
