Thankful Thursday - June 17

It's another day - one in which to give thanks, as is every day. I am reminded today that I need to wake up praising God for another day. I need to ask for His blessings upon my life and upon the lives of whom I'll come in contact. I don't always do that. Lately, I just wake up achy and still tired. I don't feel so much like praising the Lord.

I need to do it anyway. The days that I neglect my time with God are the days in which I have the most problems. God changes my way of thinking and behaving when I put Him first.

Today I am thankful for the sun shining and the warm-up. The older I get, the more the cold seems to make my body hurt. And I'm only 47! I can only imagine what life will be like at 77.

Speaking of 70's, my mom turned 79 this week. Praise God that she is still with us! A little more than a year ago, we didn't think she would live to see this day. God surprised even the doctors and nurses when He gave her more time to influence the lives of people here for Him.

I think that is why we all have more time here - either to witness to others of His love and forgiveness, or to come to repentance ourselves.

Hope you all have a wonderful Thursday. I'm off to work in my garden and enjoy the beautiful sunshine. Maybe this weekend I can pick strawberries at a farm nearby. They are early this year.

Please visit Iris for Thankful Thursday.

How true! When we put God first, everything else follows in place. May your mom have a blessed birthday this weekend!

Gardening sounds wonderful. There's nothing like learning spiritual lessons from the garden.

I enjoyed your post here and must say I agree with you. We need to be busy telling others about the love of our Lord and making sure we too stand in a place of repentance.

Thank you for dropping by "bytheway" today and leaving your comment.

Blessings,
Linda J

Rita, nice post. Congratulations to your mom.

I agree with your thought about why we're here, that maybe it's also to bring us to repentance. Good thought.

Hi Rita,

I can understand how you feel. I am also learning that I need to wake up praising God for another day. Sometimes I feel very low when I wake up but when I try to write my Thankful Thursday post then I feel so much better. Spending time with God also is so precious to me and really makes a difference to my daily life.

Blessed birthday to your mum! Thank God for preserving her and she can celebrate her 79th birthday with you. Thanks for your visit. Take care and have a blessed weekend!

Warm regards,
Nancie

I can so relate to this...

"The days that I neglect my time with God are the days in which I have the most problems. God changes my way of thinking and behaving when I put Him first."...amen to that!

Enjoyed your post!

Great list :) I sure wish we could've grown strawberries in our garden but it didn't work out.
