Thankful Thursday - December 17

Christmas is soon to be upon us. Everyone keeps asking me if I'm ready. I think about it. Ready for what? The real Christmas has already come in the form of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. He doesn't simply appear one year on December 25, disappear for a year, and then reappear again once a year.

The truth is that I've already received His gift of life and it's not something that I put in a box after the holiday fun is over. Jesus is ALIVE today and doesn't need to be born again - but YOU do.

Yeah, in order to inherit life forever after this one is kaput - you need to be born into His spiritual family. You do that by taking that free gift that is offered - and saying, "Thank you, Jesus. I want Your gift, a gift that I could never earn or buy." Then you allow Him to change your life into something you never dreamed it could ever be.

That's what Christmas is to me. What does it mean for you?

This week I'm thankful for that free gift of eternal life. Wow. Without it I'd be in a pretty bad position.

My two oldest sons are visiting our families in Indiana right now. I'm thankful that they made it there safely and are enjoying the fellowship of each other and the extended family.

I'm trying to be thankful for the many feet of snow we've received this past week. I'm t-r-y-i-n-g. Ugh. I'll get there.

Women Taking a Stand is hosting Thankful Thursday this week. Take a look over there if you get the chance or want to link up your own post.

I like your explanation. Christ doesn't need to be born again. We do! So true.
