Menu Plan Monday - August 31

I didn't spend a great deal of time planning this week's menu plan. I checked out the newest Taste of Home Cookbook from the library and spent a few minutes flipping through the pages to get some good ideas of what to make with what I have on hand. I rarely write up a menu and then grocery shop around it. I do it the other way around - look at the cupboards, refrigerator and freezer and then plan accordingly. That way I can buy whatever's on sale and I have coupons to match to make the most of our money.

We cleaned out a bit of our sorry garden tonight because the weather center issued a frost warning for tonight. Good grief! It's not even September yet! Anyway, this week's menu reflects the garden odds and ends.

Monday

Baked Steak & Gravy (done in crockpot)
Baked Potatoes (done in microwave)
Sweet Corn (HA! Two measly ears of corn in the garden)
Brussels Sprouts (They are actually growing nicely)

Tuesday

Mom's Meat Loaf (Taste of Home Cookbook)
Scalloped Tomatoes (Taste of Home Cookbook)
Tomato Rice Pilaf (Taste of Home Cookbook)
Garden Salads

Wednesday - Breakfast Night

Overnight Caramel French Toast (Taste of Home Cookbook)
Bacon
Peach Cobbler

Thursday

Pizza & Pop (with a movie checked out of the library)

Friday

Pot Roast (crockpot)
Potatoes
Carrots
Apple Pie

Saturday

Sicilian Supper
Homemade Breadsticks (Don't know which recipe I want to use yet)
Green Beans
Garden Salads

Sunday
