Thankful Thursday - July 30

Summer fun is the theme for Thankful Thursday this week; our hostess is Lynn at Spiritually Unequal Marriage.

What can I find about summer that causes my heart to burst with thanksgiving? For one thing, NO SNOW! Up here, the snow begins to fly in October and doesn't quit until April. That's a long time. We average 149.6 inches of snow each year and that makes for yucky roads (dangerous too). I am so thankful for the summer even though our temperatures don't seem to be getting much above 70 degrees this year. We have a garden that is not doing the best but is still providing us with some colder weather crops.

We are utilizing the great outdoors for most of our family activities. We are blessed to live right outside a state forest and we often take long hikes or go fishing or camping out there. These are things we can do cheaply - almost free (have to buy food - picnic food!)

I do have to give extra thanks today that my son, Jonathon, and the rest of the mission team from our church left for Mombasa, Kenya yesterday. They head home August 10. I am SO THANKFUL that we are part of a church that believes in missions and actively seeks to preach the Gospel. And more than that, they strive to be the hands and feet of Jesus to spread the love of Christ to others who need to hear about Him. Please be in prayer for this group.

What are you thankful for this week?

First of all... where do you live???? I am in Minnesota and thought we had it bad...LOL

I am thankful this week for good friends. The ones you can share openly and honestly with and be at peace with just that.

Awesome about the mission... we leave October 30th for Honduras, my 5th time. Our son has went for two years now.... thankful for that too!)

Prayers for safety and peace. You have a fabulous way with words and I can not even imagine what snow that long is like.

Thank you for sharing your thankful heart! Thank you, also, for stopping by High Impact Mom and I hope you come back soon!

It must be nice living so close to the woods. I'm hoping that someday I get to do the same. Will be praying for your son and his mission team. God bless!
