VBS and the Importance of Teaching the Children

Tonight, VBS begins. Evan and I have signed up to be helpers and I'm not sure just yet where they'll put us. I'd like to just give a few reasons why I think that ministry to children is so important.

  1. The Bible tells us to teach our children about God. We teach them to read, to write, to differentiate between that which will harm them and that which won't. If we love them, we'll teach them about WHO is good (the Lord) and who is bad(Satan).
  2. Children are the future of the church. In today's world, young people are leaving the church in droves. Why? Could it be that we failed that generation by not teaching them while they were very young - left it to them to decide what they wanted to believe?
  3. Jesus said to let the little children come to Him. They're important to Jesus so they should be important to us.
  4. People vary as to what age they are ready to believe with all their hearts. You don't know how and at what age each individual will be reached for Christ.
It'll be a busy week but I'm excited about it - pray I don't get a crazy headache or something!

Our church doesn't have a VBS, so the kids really miss it a lot!
