Thankful Thursday - June 4

PSALM 19:9,10 "The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, Yea, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb." (NKJV)

Laurie at Women Taking a Stand is hosting Thankful Thursday this week. She chose a great couple of verses to share and since they seem to hit a chord with me tonight, I'm going to use them too.

The words and laws of God are truly sweet and fair. In a world where everyone is screaming, "Not fair, not fair!" I have to say that if you want justice and fairness, turn to the Lord. He isn't swayed by riches or social status. I'm glad I can count on Him to always do what is right.

This week I'm thankful for:

  • My son, Jonathon, was able to go with the church youth group to New York City for a senior outing. It's a thing they do every year. We thought it was going to cost a lot of money that we did not have, but it turns out that he only needed money for food for the week. They arrive home tomorrow sometime. I'm hoping this kid will be pumped up and on fire. By the way, Jonathon leaves for a missions trip to Mombasa, Kenya at the end of July. He, and the others going on the trip, could use prayer.
  • Ministering opportunities, no matter how small in my eyes. God takes what little I do and multiplies it over and over.
  • My husband's health is just about 100% now. He's starting to get used to the sleep machine and he says that he wakes up feeling rested.
Isn't God good?

Oh what a great thankful list. I hope your son has a wonderful time and that he is blessed on his mission trip and that he blesses others. I loved what you said about the small things and how God uses them.
Thanks for sharing.

I'm glad I can count on Him to always do what is right, too! He is "rightness" personified!

Glad your hubby is feeling better. God bless you both.

I love the verse you shared about the word of Lord being sweet to the taste! It reminds me of another verse, the one that "man does not live by bread alone, but by the very word of God." mmmm. I have some feasting to do!

Oh Rita, yes God is truly good. God will indeed give you ministry opportunities when your heart is open as yours is. I find that what we consider 'small' places are actually huge in God's world. I have been given a nursing homes ministry because Mom is there and oh how many times God has given me just the one who needs a prayer, a hug, a touch. And sometimes that is all it is! Praising God with you this day! ~ linda

I love that verse! So true that in this world, we won't always get justice or fairness; but with God he is always fair and just, even when we don't understand!
