SpellQuizzer Giveaway

**This contest is now closed.**

This week I had the privilege of reviewing a great spelling program that I think will really help boost my children's spelling abilities and comprehension. With SpellQuizzer, the parent/teacher records the spelling words that she wants her students to practice. The students, in turn, spell them.

Oh, did I mention that this is done in a fun way on the computer? That's right; it's done with the SpellQuizzer's spelling software, which makes this program seem more like a game while it builds and reinforces spelling skills. When your young speller makes an error, he knows it right away. After the quiz is over, the student is then given the opportunity to re-quiz on the missed words. By practicing his spelling words five or ten minutes a day, he'll be prepared to pass the spelling test at the end of the week with flying colors.

As a homeschool mom, I know first-hand how important it is to keep a kid's attention and interest in his schoolwork. When a child becomes bored, as they often do with tons of workbook pages and reports, he day dreams and "dilly-dallies," never really getting things done effectively.

SpellQuizzer makes spelling and vocabulary fun. Since the program is not correlated with any particular curriculum, it complements any program you are currently using. I think you can easily use this program alone or along with another spelling curriculum. You can use some prepared lists or you can make your own. You can share lists with other teachers or homeschool groups with an easy import/export feature. It's up to you. Feel free to browse the homeschool section here. Remember, though, that while this is a "homeschool friendly" program, it is equally valuable for public and private school teachers as well as parents wanting to give their children extra help at home.

In order to use SpellQuizzer, you will need to have a PC microphone. If your computer does not have one, you can probably get one for less than $10. Because you're the one recording the words, you can make it as fun as you want by using a silly voice or crazy rhyming phrases, or whatever. The program also recognizes both US and UK English spellings.

Now, how would you like to WIN a copy of this spelling software for keeps? The folks at SpellQuizzer will gift one of my readers with a copy. This contest is open to folks worldwide. Here's how you can win:

  • Visit SpellQuizzer and look around. Then come back here and leave me a comment letting me know why this is a great product for you. This must be done before you can gain additional entries. You must make sure I can find you by leaving your e-mail address or have it visible in your profile on Blogger.

  • Tweet about the giveaway on Twitter and let me know where to find it in a separate comment.

The contest will remain open until Wednesday, July 1, 2009. If you don't win, please keep in mind that you can try it now for free (one month trial) to see how easy and fun it truly is. SpellQuizzer sells for $29.95.

I think it's a great product because it makes it fun to learn. That will make children WANT to "play" and they'll be learning to spell without even knowing it!

I like that you can download spelling lists. This would eliminate the need to ever get another spelling curriculum!

I love programs like this. I bought a number of them when Jeremy was 3-6 years old. It made him a whiz on the computer and kinda smart too. LOL
Have a great weekend.

Looks like a great product. Spelling is not my children's strong point, and I love that you can download their spelling list. With 5 (some soon to be) spellers, this would get a lot of use.

This would be great for us at home b/c my two girls have not yet learned to spell but they both LOVE to get on the computer to play games. It would also be useful for my husband, b/c he is an elementary school teacher.

This would make studying the spelling list more fun instead of just blurting out the words and having them write or say it out loud. They might look forward to studying now.
