Social Networking Sites and You

What do you think about social networking sites on the internet? I'm not overly keen on many of them and want to sit and chat with you about my experiences and thoughts.

I have joined some sites because friends aked me to - would be a good way to keep in touch with long distance friends and family. Some sites are better than others. Some sites have been a total waste of my time. Other sites have proven to be nothing more than a way to help married women cheat on their husbands.

*Sites that I have joined and will stay with:

Twitter (I can tweet about something quickly and I can choose who follows me or whom I follow)

Jacket Flap (social networking site for published writers)

Facebook (keeps me in contact with friends and family without allowing anyone and everyone to see my profile)

Spark People (diet and health site)

*Sites that I tried at requests of others but either did not approve of or didn't care for:

Bebo (I got so many solicitations from men I didn't know that it isn't funny)

Classmates.com and Reunion.com (they won't let you see any correspondence from friends you finally find unless you pay them)

The Homeschool Lounge (I won giveaways, etc and then never received my prizes or heard about them again. People only talk to you if you talk to them first....continual need to "solicit" friends in order to do much of anything there)

I know there are others I've tried and quit, but can't remember right now. I guess that shows you how unmemorable they are.

I do not care much for them really although I do have a my space page which is like face book. I met Maureen our cousin thru this which is neat and made friends with a few other christian women. I am picky who I choose as friends. Spark is alright and I am on that also. but that is aout it except for twitter which I just started!

The thing that I like about Twitter is that it will let you block anyone, even if they are not on your friends list. I don't care much for the others.

Hi, Rita:
Thanks for stopping by and visiting me! I log on to Facebook and Twitter now and then, but I enjoy reading blogs and getting to know people through them. You listed some I don't know and will have to check out.

Have a great Sunday!
