Thankful Thursday - March 19

THE SPIRIT of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed and qualified me to preach the Gospel of good tidings to the meek, the poor, and afflicted; He has sent me to bind up and heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the [physical and spiritual] captives and the opening of the prison and of the eyes to those who are bound, Isaiah 61:1 (AMP)

This week Thankful Thursday's theme is freedom and it's quite fitting, don't you think? My family and I are blessed to be able to enjoy the freedom that we have to worship God in our homes, in churches, and with friends. We can feel free to witness with boldness about the greatness of our God with others.

Another angle is that we have the freedom to follow God or not to follow Him. We can say yes or we can say no.

Today I am so thankful that:

  • We had Bible study tonight with our study group. We started a new "topic" tonight - spiritual maturity. It looks like it's going to be powerful.
  • For the Lord's leading and direction. Sometimes I just have to be still and listen; other times I must dig deep into the Bible; and yet at other times a song will touch my heart or wise words from another believer will "click." God speaks and shows me the path to take and I'm so grateful that He doesn't leave me on my own.
  • For healing for my husband. He'll be able to go back to work in a week or so and we're so thankful that he's doing so well. I'm also thankful that my children are getting better after a long bout with colds and flu. When you have a house full of children, you can never count on them getting sick in the same week - seems as if it lasts forever. Thank God it only seems that way.

How true it is - the idea we can choose Him or not choose Him. I love that we serve a God who wants us, doesn't force us to accept Him. Thank you for your post! Blessings.
