A Tag

Cindy at Fenced in Family tagged me with this some time ago and I'm finally getting around to it. I did a tag like this when I first started up my other blog and everyone visiting thought my points to be rather normal and maybe even dull. So, with that in mind, I'll tell you that I don't necessarily think these points are strange or anything like that. I've lived a pretty bland life with little excitement (as the world would see it.) I do live an exciting life in that I'm following the path that God has laid out for me, to the best of my ability and knowledge. That's more exciting than drugs, alcohol, or any other substitute for the best.

The rules? Share 7 random and/or weird things about me. Then I have to tag 7 people and link to their blog. Let them know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their site.

  1. I slept with a sock monkey that my grandma made for me for years. I don't remember when I began using "George" (at the height of the Curious George books, no movies yet, craze) as my security blanket, but he was there with me until I got married. When we got back from our honeymoon, my husband informed that George was no longer needed. I put him in my cedar chest and there he rests. When I take him out to look at him, I see that he is SO worn out from all of the loving a little girl could give.
  2. I am a horrible singer, so-so knitter & crocheter, just learning-how-to scrapbooker, and avid gardener. I love to cook everything from scratch because it's fun and because it's a better way of taking care of my family (no artificial ingredients.)
  3. I am a farmer's daughter and take pride in that today, though as a child I was embarrassed of it. Kids at school were terrible about poking fun at the farmers in the community.
  4. I became a believer and follower of Jesus at the age of 20 (26 years ago.) I love Him more today than I did then and I have never felt the urge to let Him go.
  5. When I was in high school I was the kid who was never in the popular group and never in the "scuzzy" group. I was liked by both groups, though, but never invited to any of either group's parties or gatherings. I don't regret any of that because I stayed out of tons of trouble.
  6. I am very nervous about growing old. I noticed the other day that my skin is looser and that I have an awful lot of gray hair. I still look younger than my real age - always have, but wow. Where did the years go? I'm at least half-way through my life, providing the Lord gives me a long one.
  7. Speaking of age, I get along better with people older than me than I do those in my own age set. One of my favorite persons is 87 years old. I visit her and call her on the phone. Love to hear her stories. Our Bible study leaders are in their late 60's and early 70's. I could spend hours and hours with them. If you haven't spent time with the aged, you're missing out on a lot.
Now, as I said, those aren't strange things and they aren't even very random. But they're true.

I'm not going to tag anyone specifically for this because I'm running out of people to tag. If you haven't done this meme on your own blog, perhaps you'd like to. This is your invitation.

I enjoyed reading this, Rita. I had lots of stuffed animals that were well worn like your George. Now my kids play with some of them.
