Pasta Sauce

A great cook gave me this recipe years ago when I was first married. I made it a couple of times then and somehow forgot about it later. I have rediscovered this sauce and used it to make tonight's lasagna, which was a great hit.

Mama's Lasagna Sauce

3 Tablespoons oil
2 lbs. ground beef
1 Tablespoon paprika
1 large onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1/8 teaspoon oregano
salt & pepper to taste
6 oz. can tomato paste
3 Tablespoons flour
29 oz. can tomatoes
1 can sliced mushrooms
2 bay leaves
2 1/2 cup water

Combine 1st 9 ingredients in a large skillet. Cook, mashing and turning until rich brown in color. Add flour; stir until dissolved. Add tomatoes, mushrooms, bay leaves and water. Simmer, covered, over low heat for 1 hour or until done. Skim off excess fat. Use for lasagna, spaghetti, or any other pasta dish.
