Cherries

These just came out of the canner - 7 quarts of cherry pie filling. There are 7 pints in the canner as we speak. In addition to that, there is another pint in the freezer along with 6 quart bags of sour cherries (not in pie filling.) And should I mention the 6 quarts of green beans?

This was a surprise canning day. My husband passed by the orchard with his Frito truck and decided to pick some. They were $1.00 a pound, U-pick. Guess how many pounds he brought home? A whopping 33 pounds! If you know anything about sour cherries, you will understand that I had to take care of them tonight or risk brown cherries in the morning. So, here it is 11:11 p.m. and I'm still at it.

By the way, the orchard really raised the price on dark sweet cherries and nobody's picking them. The trees are loaded with fruit that is spoiling and getting moldy. What a waste!
