Love

My Sunday school class is doing a series on love. Today I took time to do my lesson, which was LONG. Anyway, when I was looking up Bible verses I was touched by the realization that we are commanded to love; it's not a request. There's a kicker to that - we're to love the unlovely.

I have a lot of unlovable people in my life; perhaps you do too. These are the folks who consistently do and say things that hurt me even though I've tried over and over to be kind in return. Physically, they might be knock out gorgeous, but inside they're less than desirable. Sometimes these people proclaim to be Christians; sometimes they don't. Almost always they claim to be "good."

Here's the difficult concept that I grapple with, yet I try with all my might to obey: "But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies. Do good to those who hate you." Luke 6:26-28

I met a few people like this tonight while setting up for the craft show tomorrow! Let's just say that tomorrow should be interesting.
